Allen Public Library
The courtyard gardens were established in October 2015 by the Collin County Master Gardeners Association, Puckett’s Nursery and the City of Allen Water Conservation Department.
This highly visible location is a venue for Master Gardeners to educate the public about Earth-Kind® practices and the role of Master Gardeners.
The maturing gardens are a rainbow of color that Master Gardeners designed for year-round appeal. A succession of blooming plants greets visitors with an ever-changing tapestry of beauty and serenity.
As you stroll through the rear courtyard of the Allen Public Library, you may be amazed by the variety of plants and the lively array of butterflies and bees. The sight of bunnies hopping through the garden beds is a frequent delight for children, but perhaps not the gardeners!
We hope you will come to see this real-world example of sustainable Earth-Kind landscaping, where the best of organic and traditional gardening practices combine to create environmentally responsible and beautiful gardens. We have labeled the plants in the garden to make it easier for you to make plant selections for your own home.
You can often spot the Master Gardeners planting, weeding, trimming and watering. If you see us, please stop for a while and visit – we would love to talk with you.
