The Earth-Kind® Research and Demonstration Gardens are located at Myers Park & Event Center in McKinney, Texas. In the fall of 2008, the Collin County Commissioners Court approved this cooperative project between the Collin County AgriLife Extension Service, Collin County Master Gardeners and Myers Park.
There are five Earth-Kind® based research gardens: herbaceous perennials, summer annuals, roses, crape myrtles and vegetables. Additionally, there are four demonstration gardens that feature well adapted perennials, trees and grasses. The vegetable demonstration garden has been re-designed to reflect a potager style garden with emphasis on vegetables, herbs and edible flowers.
The following Earth-Kind® principles and practices are used in the gardens:
These gardens provide a firsthand look at how the plants might look in your garden using low maintenance Earth-Kind® principles.
