Earth-Kind® Overview

What are the Earth-Kind Principles

Welcome to Earth-Kind® Landscaping.  The Earth-Kind landscaping program was created by Texas A&M University to provide research-proven techniques which, when used, allows everyone to have maximum enjoyment of their landscape while preserving and protecting our environment.

The objective of Earth-Kind program is to combine the best of traditional and organic gardening methods and landcaping principles to create a system based on environmental responsibility and real world effectiveness.

THE GOALS OF THE EARTH-KIND PROGRAM ENCOURAGE:

  • Landscape water conservation
  • Reduction of pesticide and fertilizer use
  • Energy conservation through proper landscape design
  • Reduction of landscape wastes entering landfills

Individuals using Earth-Kind landscaping techniques, practices and principles can create easy-care, beautiful landscapes while protecting our environment and conserving our precious natural resources.

To get started, take the Earth-Kind Challenge to establish a base point for your current landcape practices.  While taking the challenge you will be given the opportunity to read more about each subject which offers guidance on improving your current practices so that our environment can be protected for generations to come.
